About Camille Pissarro

Danish-French painter, a founding figure of Impressionism and the only artist to show in all eight of the group's exhibitions. A generous mentor to Cézanne and Gauguin, he painted rural landscapes and, later, bustling Parisian boulevards. For a time he adopted the Neo-Impressionist dot technique before returning to a freer touch. He died in 1903.
